Officers take to the road for Operation Illuminate

PCSOs Joanne Dales and David Seabridge will also be taking to the road on Sunday July 23rd 2017 from 10.00am to 3.45 pm as part of Operation Illuminate to help residents to protect themselves from becoming a victim of crime. 

The PCC  will also be attending , to listen to people’s views on policing , community safety and victims services. 

They will be visiting the rural villages around Ashbourne as follows -

Sergeant Andy Wordsworth, who oversees policing in the Derbyshire Dales, said: “Thieves are opportunists and are out for an easy steal. It is important that residents think about the security of their own sheds, garages and outbuildings and the steps that they can take to protect it from thieves. 

“Firstly, it is important to fit a good quality lock to secure your shed, garage or outbuilding and make sure that it is appropriate to the strength of the door and frame. 

“For added security, consider purchasing a shed alarm and secure any bikes with a quality chain even if they are inside the shed or garage. 

“Finally, ensure that valuables are kept out of view from passers-by and consider covering your windows from the inside to prevent thieves from taking a look.”
