Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after police were called to reports of suspicious activity in Brailsford, near Ashbourne.

Officers received a call about the incident at a house on Luke Lane at around 10.30am on Friday, April 5.

One man was stopped at the house by two members of the public, who passed descriptions to officers of another man they had seen, and waited while officers arrived.

Another man matching the description was stopped by an officer on the A52, not far from Luke Lane.

The men, both aged 28 and from Derby, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary. They were questioned by officers and later released under police bail to allow for further inquiries.

PC Paul Hawkins, of the Ashbourne area Safer Neighbourhood policing team, was one of the officers who responded to the incident. He said: "We would like to thank members of the community for their support and for coming forward to report suspicious activity as it can potentially help us to both prevent and detect crime in their neighbourhood.
