Our revenues team have been receiving calls from Council Tax payers in the Ashbourne area about a phone call from a man claiming to be from Derbyshire Dales District Council - advising them that they are to receive a Council Tax refund.
This is a *SCAM* - the call isn't from us.
The fraudster states money will be paid direct to their bank account, reassuring the "customer" that he is not asking them for any bank details as the Council already hold the resident's bank account details. He asks for confirmation of the resident's full name, date of birth and the name of the bank they use.
Do not give out any information to this type of call. If you are concerned you may have revealed sensitive information, please contact your bank..
A reminder that the new national lockdown means we must stay at home. The single most important action we can all take is to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives.
